The brands that are about to need a line

A brand raises, wins a national listing, or shuts its own plant — and roughly 60 to 90 days later, somebody is calling co-packers. This is a sample issue of the weekly brief: what moved, who moved it, and why it matters if you run a line. Every entry carries its source and its date.

Three signals worth a message this week

Not every event means someone is shopping for capacity. These three do.

JuneShine Brands — dropping its own plant

Announced it is outsourcing all production to third-party co-packers and closing its own San Diego facility (the former Ballast Point Scripps Ranch site), with full transition targeted for June 2026. Hard kombucha and RTD portfolio. 24–30 employees affected.

Why it matters: this is a brand publicly stating it needs contract manufacturers for its entire portfolio. Corroborated independently by Brewbound, ProBrewer and SanDiegoVille.

Lapo's — 350% growth, into Target

Non-alcoholic cocktail brand, under two years old, now in Target nationwide on top of expanded Whole Foods sets — over 2,000 stores. Cites 350% annual growth. Atlanta, GA, owned by The Zero Proof.

Why it matters: a very young brand tripling volume into national retail almost always hits a capacity ceiling before it hits the next quarter.

Leisure Hydration — raise plus three chains at once

Closed an oversubscribed Series A (amount not published) and simultaneously expanded into Target, Whole Foods and H-E-B. Investors include Midnight Venture Partners, Asahi Group Beverages & Innovation, and the CEOs of Nutrabolt and Bloom Nutrition.

Why it matters: funding plus three national chains in one announcement is the clearest short-term volume signal in this issue.

How this is built

Sourced, dated, and honest about gaps

Every entry names the publication and the date we checked it. Where a figure isn't public — a funding amount, a purchase price — it says so rather than carrying an estimate. A wrong number here would cost you a call to the wrong brand.

We also log the date the event happened separately from the date we found it. Over time that gap is itself data: it tells you how fast this market actually moves.

What it isn't

Not a contact list

This brief tells you which brands just moved and why it matters. It is not a scraped database of personal email addresses, and it never will be — that's both a legal position and a quality one.

Run a line with capacity to fill? The weekly brief is how you hear about these brands before your competitors call them.
