Three Florida facilities publish minimums between one pallet and 160 cases. The industry norm for an aluminum can is 2,000 to 5,000 cases per SKU, and 1,000 to 3,000 for glass or PET. That is a gap of one to two orders of magnitude, concentrated in one state.
It isn't an accident of search data. It reflects a real cluster of boutique operators who built their lines for changeover speed rather than throughput, several of them out of the craft brewing world, where short runs were always the norm.
The practical consequence: if your first production run is under a thousand cases, Florida is worth a call before anywhere else — wherever you're based.
Facilities quote faster, and more accurately, when the first email already contains the run size in cases, the format and size, whether the recipe is final, the target ship date, and any certification you need — organic, kosher, gluten-free, or a TTB permit if there's alcohol.
Expect 8 to 12 weeks from approved formula to first production across the industry. Trial and pilot runs shorten that; they don't remove it. Plan the launch date backwards from there.
A minimum quoted in gallons rather than cases is a sign of a larger operation — 4,000 gallons per SKU is a common mid-market floor, which is roughly 1,700 cases of 12 oz.
